Method

 

 

The laser measures the angular misalignment/deviation that results from the distance between the laser and the workpiece, and transfers this value to the control unit. The triangulation laser is clamped to the Z-axis and assigned to the control unit as the Z2-axis.

 

The control unit adds the recorded values of the laser to those of the Z-axis and as a result, automatically captures the object in 3D by simultaneously storing the X and Y values. So, if the machine traverses over an object in line raster X with line skip Y, the X, Y and Z data are stored simultaneously in a fixed time period and generate a scatter plot, that is equivalent to the surface of the workpiece. The recorded scatter plot can then be used directly as a milling program or transferred to a CAD/CAM system to be reworked.
