Grinding 
After the mould or workpiece has been milled it may be necessary or requested to grind or polish the material surface of the object in order to paint it for example. The customer can also carry out this task with HSM-MODAL®.
Many different standardized grinding heads from different manufacturers are available on the market. The HSM-MODAL® tool head can generally be easily equipped with these standardized grinding and/or polishing heads. This allows customers to use HSM-MODAL® to grind and polish large surfaces that are accessible by machines within a short period of time automatically.
Furthermore, the relatively high torque of the spindle of HSM-MODAL® connected with low RPM is advantageous for this field of operation as low speeds are used in the areas grinding and polishing.
It should be emphasized at this point that grinding and polishing with HSM-MODAL® is more accurate than hand-operated methods as the latter is solely dependent on the feeling of the individual employee responsible for grinding and polishing. Whereas with HSM-MODAL® consistently good grinding and polishing results can be reproduced.
